Dolly Parton museum and Nashville hotel open after singer’s death

The SongTeller Hotel and its Life of Many Colors Museum have opened in Nashville as one of Dolly Parton’s final major projects.

The £96 million development converted a downtown office building into a 245-room hotel with a 20,000-square-foot museum. It opened on September 29, about a month after Parton died of cancer at 80, and stands close to Lower Broadway while remaining removed from its busiest nightlife.

Parton recorded material in March that is presented through holographic technology across the museum. Exhibits include stage costumes, wigs, shoes and other objects from her career, linking the project to the city where she established herself as a country-music star.

About 60 hotel rooms were delayed until spring or summer 2027 because one tenant remained in the building longer than expected. The project follows Dollywood, the East Tennessee theme park Parton opened in 1986.
