Springbok Mostert has Italy red card rescinded

South Africa lock Franco Mostert has had the red card he received against Italy rescinded, the Autumn Nations Series organisers announced on Wednesday.

Mostert was sent off after just 11 minutes of Saturday's 32-14 win over the Azzurri for making contact with opposition fly-half Paolo Garbisi's head in a tackle.

"Having conducted a detailed review of all available evidence... and submissions made by and on behalf of the Player, the Disciplinary Committee determined that although there had been head contact and an act of foul play occurring within the incident, the offending did not reach the Red Card threshold," the organisers said.

Mostert is now free to face Ireland in Dublin on Saturday in the Boks' final Test of the year with the four-time Rugby World Cup winners already without fellow lock Lood de Jager.

De Jager was sent off in South Africa's win over France on November 8 and was banned for four games.

Two other headline red cards have been rescinded this month.

Japan lock Harry Hockings can now face Georgia after being sent off in last Saturday's loss to Wales and Ireland second row Tadhg Beirne's dismissal against New Zealand on November 1 was overturned.
